Hi there,

I am David Sanderson, some people know me as David Harks.  Welcome to Amity, a digital space for me to present collaborations, releases and published works that I have curated.

I am a songwriter and artist residing in Berlin, Germany. I have been working in and around music for over a decade as an artist, producer and musician.

I began my musical career singing and playing drums in the band the Hat. Signed to Rob Da Bank’s Sunday Best label, the band would go on to play many of the UK’s best festivals. As a live artist I've had the pleasure of performing and supporting artists including  Laura Marling, Fink, Robert Plant, Mystery Jets, FSOL, Anoraak and many others along the way.

My work with the Hat led to work as both a live and studio session musician and ultimately saw myself joining The Amorphous Androgynous, the Future Sound of London’s psychedelic project as a vocalist, touring internationally and even featuring heavily on the band’s sprawling, acclaimed remix of Noel Gallagher’s ‘AKA… What A Life.’

Since then I have released a series of acclaimed singles as both solo artist and in collaboration with other many producers, generously tipped by some of the leading tastemaker sites around the world including Neon Gold, Thump, Vice’s Creators platform, DIY, Clash and Ban Ban Ton Ton. With song appearances across Radio 6, Sister Bliss, Colleen Cosmo Murphy and Ibiza Global Radio and a few more are on the way.

In 2017 I signed to Strictly Confidential, the publishing arm of pan-European indie giant [PIAS] and in 2018 scored a huge success collaborating with German producer Tim Bernhardt / Satin Jackets, on the critically acclaimed ‘Northern Lights’. Released on Eskimo Recordings the song has to date been streamed more than 40 million times on Spotify alone, so that was cool. Still I am focused very much on producing original music, and often found somewhere in the machine helping others find their path as much as I am releasing my own music.

Amity

In more recent times I have evolved into a music consultant, which encompasses artist relations, creation of unique copyright, developing artists and interplay of communication. I particularly enjoy the creative conceptualisation, management and delivery of projects.

There is much to explore in developing territories, supporting artists who need a vision and advancing education on music copyrights. I am an advocate at a grassroots level and have curated multiple education programs and talks on music, rights management and mentorship.

Artist Statement

I support the growth of artists in developing territories in the discovery of new talent, and actively aim via my networks to support an ongoing improvement that creates inclusivity and diversity in the entertainment industry.

Representation

I am published by Concord Music and EPM Music in Maastricht, Holland. I have a small publishing Edition with EPM that focuses on unique songs and recordings.
